like forealz tho. was this weekend not incredible?
I LOVE GENERAL CONFERENCE.
accidental matching outfits for Conference! |
All the missionaries gathered in the auditorium to watch conference and I had this precious little moment where I imagined all the little children of Heavenly Father listening to His word all over the world and all different languages. Was that not so cool though how cultural it was this year!? Anyway one of my fav talks was President Uchtdorf in the first session. I loved that he related people hearing this gospel for the first time to the advancement in technology. People will call you crazy and try to prove you wrong with the things they know to be true and they´ll say it with conviction out of the seriousness of their heart because it's what they think is truly right. We should not be offended, be patient, help them to receive the fullness of light. And all the talk of temples too? GO TO THE TEMPLE YOU GUYS cause it´s all I dream of here... so jelly you guys can go any day. I honestly could rant about all of the talks. Too good too good you guys. Also where my ladies at, cuz, um, general women's broadcast?! Like I´ll just cry my eyes out because of all the beautiful words and Korean children in the world.
Oreo Party after Conference. We found them in the vending machine. #soooohappy |
My companion brought individual size peanut butters! Bless her heart! |
Conference also was like a way cool opportunity to invite our "investigators" to listen to our living prophet! We have a new investigator/teacher because our friend Hermano Pollo is in lovely Utah. Our new teacher is Hermano Silva. He´s so happy and fun but he's also kicking our kick and really helping us to push harder. Everyday we´re suppose to be memorizing 15-25 words and 3-5 phrases, and 2-4 scriptures a week. MUY DIFÍCIL pero necesario. Anyway, his investigator character is Daniel, a 16 year old boy who almost got baptized 2 years ago but his mom wouldn't let him and now he doesn't see a reason to religion. He always pulls out his phone, doses of to sleep and never shares anything personal. How do you teach someone you don't even know? Well my companion had a brilliant idea. One time he told us he likes his art class and there are these beautiful painting in one of the buildings (the Liz Lemon ones I talked about) so for our next lesson we asked him to met us there. We walked around and looked at the paintings of Christ and talked about why this gospel is so important and how wonderful our brother Jesus Christ is. He stayed awake and he totally shared his gratitude for Christ! Tomorrow we´ll talked to him about how he "liked watching conference with us" this weekend.
Well this week I was also reminded of how much the Lord has a hand in everything we do and go through. Thursday morning us Hermana's we´re having a little bit of a struggle. Usually we teach one lesson a day, switching of investigators with the Elders. BUT from Thursday to Saturday we would be teaching every lesson! 4 lessons in a row while the Elders only taught one, which means when we´re suppose to have time to prep for our next lesson we´d be using that time to teach! We did not hide that fact that we were a little upset. oops. One of the lessons was to an actual random citizen of Mexico, a real live INVESTIGATOR. We were terrified. We ended up running out of time so we only could talk to him for 5 minutes and it wasn't that great of a lesson, but to think I was teaching a son a God about how we can pray to God anytime and he will hear. I just wanted to pour out all the love I know Heavenly Father has more him!! It was such a good experience and afterwards us Hermana's told ourselves to suck it up and be happy because this is such a wonderful opportunity we have. Not even a half hour later our teacher told us he double checked our teaching schedule and we wouldn´t have to teach in the morning. I think I heard Heavenly Father say in that moment "Have faith, be happy, I got you". We can do hard things you guys.
So yesterday we had a fun moment. About a week ago we asked for references from our investigator Alejandro. He told us he had a neighbor "Flor" (who´s actually his sister who teaches in the other building). We stopped by a couple times but she was never there, until yesterday. She was teaching but we were so desperate to actually make contact with her so we knocked and did the door approach in front of her whole class. She told us she could meet with us at 1130. So 1130 comes around and we leave class a little early to teach her, when we get there she teaching class still! how do you teach someone about the gospel in the middle of them teaching missionaries how to teach the gospel?! IDK. But we figured we needed to be missionaries and also make Hermano Vargas proud, so we knocked. Then we asked if this still wasn't a good time she said "you actually have a lesson for me??" (but in español obvi). Hahah the whole fake investigator that you're suppose to treat like a real person thing is too weird guys! So turns out we really weren't suppose to prepare a lesson for her but we´re teaching her this Thursday! YAY.
Anyway, life is beautiful and the gospels true.
Peace and blessings.
HERMANA MEACHAM
HERMANA MEACHAM
so once upon a time a strange jelly dessert thing came in MINI POTS. I picked some flowery weeds and planted them, so happy with myself.
